Hsinchu, Taiwan, July 8, 2010 – Ralink Technology Corp. (TAIEX: 3534) today announced that the total revenue for June 2010 reached NT$685.8 million, up 2.2% MoM and up 68.0% YoY. Revenue for the second quarter in 2010 totaled NT$1,963.3 million, up 17.1% QoQ and up 68.0% YoY.

 

As of the end of June, Europe accounted for a significant portion of Ralink’s total shipment. However, given Ralink’s solid partnership with European telecom operators, and a range of new products which have been broadly adopted by customers while they keep gaining market share in Europe, the company stated that it was not at all impacted by the European debt crisis, and furthermore, shipments in the second quarter were even better than expected.

 

Regarding rumors that Wi-Fi chip makers have been cutting prices recently due to high demands on the foundries being eased in the fourth quarter, the company stated that this is in line with expectations and new products are ready to launch. The company still sees a solid third quarter; however, since shipments in the second quarter have surpassed the company’s expectations, on a higher base of comparison, unit shipment growth in the third quarter is expected to be relatively moderate.
